Giving Back
The Morton Pumpkin Festival is a fund raiser for the Morton Chamber of Commerce, a local non-profit organization that strives to strengthen local business and enhance the Village of Morton. In addition to using festival revenue to support their general operations, the Morton Chamber of Commerce donates thousands of dollars each year to other, local non-profit organizations that assist in the operations of the festival. In past years, festival revenues have also been used to launch new organizations including the Morton Community Foundation and the Morton Economic Development Council.
This year, the Morton Chamber of Commerce will be directing a portion of the revenue generated from the Morton Pumpkin Festival to a key community project, the Morton Downtown Plaza. The Downtown Plaza is a new community gathering space and destination that will be located on Main Street in the heart of Morton’s downtown district. A detailed 3-dimensional Plaza design will be unveiled by the Morton Economic Development Council and the Village of Morton during this year’s Morton Pumpkin Festival. The community hopes to begin construction on the new plaza by the spring of 2014.
