Last Chance for a Leaf on the Giving Tree
We are preparing our list of names to engrave on leaves to be added to the Beautiful Giving Tree recognition sculpture at the corner of Jefferson and First Streets. This will be the final set of leaves planned to be added to the tree.
Our first set of leaves was included on the Giving Tree sculpture when it was installed just prior to Pumpkin Festival, on Thursday, September 4, 2014. The leaves were used to recognize donors who had given a total of $5,000 or more through the Morton Community Foundation from its inception in 2000 up to mid-2014. A leaf was also added for each of the funds that have been started over that time period.
Our contract with local artist, Morgan Elser, who created the sculpture included 2 separate “leafings.” Since the first “leafing”, we have been tracking new endowed funds and new donors who have reached the $5,000 threshold. We plan to have these donors names, as well as fund names added to the tree in this final “leafing”, sometime in the Spring of 2018. Due to space limitations, this will be the final batch of leaves to be added.
Because the artist needs to have plenty of lead time to fabricate the leaves and weld them on the tree, the deadline for donations that qualify for leaves will be December 31, 2017.
There are many ways to qualify, so if you have questions about what it would take for you to get a leaf on the tree in this last “leafing,” please contact us. We have historic donation data for every donor and can let you know where you stand. There are many ways to qualify, so let us know if you’d like to learn more about this opportunity.
