Join us for the cutting of a pumpkin vine and children's balloon release that officially open the Morton Pumpkin Festival. Morton grade schools distribute balloon release cards to their students to complete for the balloon release. Students can bring their card with them to the ceremonies between 4 and 5 pm on September 12th. Cards are also available at the balloon release registration table. Their card will be attached to a helium-filled balloon that they can release during the 5 pm ceremony. The release of hundreds of bright orange balloons is a beautiful, visual spectacle enjoyed by Pumpkin Festival goers every year.
The child whose balloon release card is returned by October 12th from the farthest distance will receive a $25 cash award. The person returning the balloon will receive a $10 cash award. This event is free for all children in grade school!
